Interception Rate: An Obscure Stat for the Diehard Fan by Nathan McGuire
There are a lot of ways to judge QB’s in fantasy. In the end, only stats that lead to points mean anything but the below info may help those psycho diehards that want to consider every little piece of information before making a decision at their draft.
The below shows what percentage of QB’s passes are picked off. Interception percentage is the number of interceptions a QB has thrown divided by the number of pass attempts the QB has made. Here are the 2009 interception percentages for 25 QB’s in the NFL.
Aaron Rodgers: 1.29 percent of his passes were picked off
Brett Favre: 1.32 percent of his passes were picked off
Tony Romo: 1.64 percent of his passes were picked off
Phillip Rivers: 1.85 percent of his passes were picked off
David Garrard: 1.94 percent of his passes were picked off
Drew Brees: 2.14 percent of his passes were picked off
Kyle Orton: 2.22 percent of his passes were picked off
Donovan McNabb: 2.26 percent of his passes were picked off
Tom Brady: 2.30 percent of his passes were picked off
Ben Roethlisberger: 2.37 percent of his passes were picked off
Joe Flacco: 2.40 percent of his passes were picked off
Matt Schaub: 2.57 percent of his passes were picked off
Vince Young: 2.70 percent of his passes were picked off
Eli Manning: 2.75 percent of his passes were picked off
Carson Palmer: 2.79 percent of his passes were picked off
Peyton Manning: 2.80 percent of his passes were picked off
Jason Campbell: 2.96 percent of his passes were picked off
Chad Henne: 3.10 percent of his passes were picked off
Alex Smith: 3.23 percent of his passes were picked off
Matt Cassel: 3.25 percent of his passes were picked off
Matt Hasselbeck: 3.48 percent of his passes were picked off
Trent Edwards: 3.83 percent of his passes were picked off
Jay Cutler: 4.68 percent of his passes were picked off
Matthew Stafford: 5.31 percent of his passes were picked off
Mark Sanchez: 5.49 percent of his passes were picked off
Not surprising is the only two QB’s with over 5 percent of their passes picked off were rookies Mark Sanchez and Matthew Stafford. It is hard adjusting from college to the NFL and that is understandable. They should do better this season with a year under their belts.
