The Making of FSRU- Part 1 |
|
Almost all websites are borne out of the will to make
money. But FSRU has a different story. A story that should be
told...
I also played a number of private leagues. Following the 2000
season I asked Dean to handle a private NL-Only fantasy baseball
league I was in. He would set up the league, input the rosters
and send out a trophy to the winner. I would commissioner the
league once the season started, and he would input trades once they were
authorized. A price of $500 was agreed upon. In March, 2001, I was notified that Dean sold Triple
Play to one of the sites team owners- Lets call him Joe Blow. I called
Joe and explained the deal with Dean, who was being held over as a consultant.
A week later, a week before season start, I was notified he would not honor
Deans deal and the price was now $750. I was embarrassed, but I went back to
the other league members, explained the situation, and I paid the price. The new site owner was taking his new authority very much to
heart and you could see it in every league contact. But my league pretty
much progressed through the season without incident until August, 2001.
In August, one of the younger league members went on the message board and
pretty much trashed his injured star player- Ken Griffey Jr. Within a day or two, Joe Blow showed his heavy hand. He sent out
an email to all the league members telling the young team owner if it ever
happened again he would be shut down the league before season end. He ended
it by calling the league member that cursed on the message board
"trailer park trash." THIS WAS WAR... |
